Accountants for the Arts

After serving as independent CPAs for many years, we decided to turn our collective not-for-profit accounting experience into a dedicated firm that would provide specialized accounting and organizational guidance for arts organizations.

Since 1989 we have helped many of the Bay Area’s leading arts organizations establish accurate accounting and bookkeeping practices, establish boards and organizational structures, and set up the internal structures required to sustain our vital artistic community.

Our Core Team

Jennifer Smith, CPA, Principal

Prior to founding Accountants for the Arts in 1989, Jennifer Smith managed her own accounting practice for 10 years. Previously she practiced accounting in two of the nation’s top four accounting firms.

Joe Edwards, CPA, Principal

Joe has been with Accountants for the Arts for 15 years. For our arts-organization clients, Joe offers expertise in audits, tax matters, nonprofit real estate development, and organizational development. He has been the staff accountant for the Bay City Opera and the Bay Area Symphony.

Richard Parker, CPA

Richard is an audit and business advisory partner and is responsible for providing audit and advisory services, as well as coordinating tax and information technology (IT) services.

Roxanne Jones, CPA

Roxanne has more than ten years of experience in the broad areas of accounting, auditing, taxation, litigation support, financial analysis, and systems design and implementation.
